Resolution of  the Executive Committee of Democrats Abroad

Adopted by the Executive Committee of the Democratic Party Committee Abroad, October 9, 2007, by telephone conference.

Whereas 10 October, 2007 is World Day Against the Death Penalty; and

Whereas the evidence of the unfair and unjust application of the death penalty in the United States by both the Federal Government and the States is irrefutable;

Whereas resorting to the death penalty is inconsistent with the notions of human dignity and democracy;

Whereas Democrats Abroad has repeatedly called for the abolition of the death penalty by the United States, including in the platforms of Democrats Abroad adopted in 2000 and 2004;

Now therefore, be it resolved, that the Executive Committee of Democrats Abroad, calls, once again, for the immediate abolition of the death penalty in the United States.
