Worried or confused about what you need to do about taxes? All US citizens and permanent residents (green card holders) are subject to US taxes for their worldwide income, whether they live in the USA or abroad.

Come to an evening information session (May 18, 2015 7-9pm) co-sponsored by Democrats Abroad Berlin to learn more about what your responsibilities are as an American citizen or permanent resident living abroad.

Donald Black (an American lawyer) and Monique Luegger (from Americans’ Income Tax Service) will be presenting and fielding your questions.

It’s not required, but you can help spread the word by RSVPing and sharing this event with fellow Americans in Berlin on Facebook and Meetup.

Topics will include

  • classes of taxes
  • German-American tax treaties (income, saving, gift & estate, totalization, Social Security)
  • Foreign Earned Income exclusion
  • Foreign Tax Credit
  • Alternative Minimum Tax
  • Overseas self-employment and US Social Security Tax
  • FATCA & FBAR
  • and much much more (bring your questions!)
